I’m running for reelection because Lincoln County needs a county government that is transparent, accountable, and focused on delivering essential public services. After fourteen years working for the County and four years serving as commissioner, I have seen how much good local government can accomplish—and how quickly public trust can be damaged when decisions are not made openly or fairly. I want to continue the work of strengthening county services, supporting the employees who provide them, addressing housing and affordability, and making sure the Board follows lawful, consistent processes. This is a nonpartisan office, and I believe the job should be about solving problems, protecting public resources, and serving everyone in Lincoln County—not advancing a political party or faction.
I want to restore trust in county government by making sure decisions are made openly, lawfully, and through clear and consistent processes. That means accessible public meetings, fair agenda procedures, clear lines of authority, meaningful public participation, and better communication between elected officials, staff, and the community.
County government has to get the basics right. I want to protect and stabilize essential services including the District Attorney’s Office, public safety, roads, elections, veterans services, public health, and human services. Budget and staffing decisions should begin with the services residents depend on most.
Lincoln County is one of the largest employers in our community, and the quality of county services depends on the people doing the work. I want stronger employee retention, fair and consistent personnel practices, good labor relations, adequate staffing, and a workplace culture where employees are respected and able to do their jobs well.
Lincoln County needs more housing that the people who work here can actually afford. I support workforce and multifamily housing where infrastructure can support it, pursuing state and federal resources, using County property strategically when appropriate, preserving our permanent housing stock, and working with cities, nonprofits, housing agencies, and private partners to increase long-term housing opportunities.
There is no single solution to homelessness or behavioral-health challenges. Some people need affordable housing, some need shelter or supportive housing, and others need mental-health or addiction treatment. I want the County to strengthen treatment and prevention services and work with healthcare providers, cities, nonprofits, law enforcement, and community organizations rather than expecting one program to solve every problem.
A county budget should reflect the community’s priorities and provide taxpayers with a clear picture of where their money is going. I want stronger long-term strategic planning, regular audits and financial analysis, measurable goals, performance management, and an open budget process that protects essential services while recognizing that our resources are limited.
Living on the Oregon coast means preparing for earthquakes, tsunamis, wildfire, severe weather, and other emergencies before they happen. I want to strengthen emergency communications, community preparedness, infrastructure resilience, and partnerships among government, nonprofits, businesses, volunteers, and neighborhood organizations so Lincoln County is better prepared when the next emergency arrives.
